Outlasting Mild Steel 5–10×, UHMWPE Liners Become the Default for Mine Hoppers and Chutes
Frequent downtime from replacing worn steel liners is pushing mines, cement plants and bulk-handling operators toward UHMWPE sheets. Field experience shows UHMWPE liners outlast mild steel by 5–10 times in sliding abrasion, while their low coefficient of friction (0.10–0.22) and self-lubricating surface sharply reduce material bridging and clogging in hoppers, chutes and coal bunkers — and cut conveying energy use. Weighing only about one-eighth as much as steel, they install quickly and resist acids, alkalis and salts, making them a strong fit for coal mines, power plants and steel mills. OEMs now specify UHMWPE liners as standard on new lines, stretching replacement cycles from months to years and cutting total cost of ownership dramatically.
