Mining Wear Liners: Outlasting Mild Steel 5–10× in Sliding Abrasion, Downtime Slashed
The cost equation in mining and bulk handling is simple: every hour of abrasive flow burns liner life, and every liner replacement costs far more than the liner itself. Field experience shows UHMW-PE liners outlast mild steel by 5–10 times in sliding abrasion — without the deformation and cracking of metal under impact. Better still, UHMW-PE liners weigh only about one-eighth as much as steel, so each replacement takes far less labor and lifting time, and the self-lubricating surface eliminates bridging and clogging in hoppers and chutes, avoiding extra shutdowns for clean-out. After adopting UHMW-PE liners as standard on new and retrofit lines, many mines have stretched replacement cycles from months to years, cutting annual maintenance budgets by an order of magnitude.
